Rare Breed
Survival stops being a wound and becomes evidence.
The role of the song
After the return and the personal fallout of the opening tracks, “Rare Breed” begins rebuilding identity. The song revisits Forest Creek, drinking, anger and one of the darkest moments in the album's personal history without turning survival into a victory lap.

The line flips the meaning of “rare breed.” It is not just superiority or swagger. In context, it becomes survivor identity: the narrator is still here, and being here is what gives him the right to testify.
“Drowning” works literally through alcohol imagery and emotionally through collapse. “Heart strings” keeps the relationship wound inside the same image, tying self-destruction and separation together.
Why it matters
The title is a self-description, but the real flex is endurance. That idea later pays off again in “Who I Am,” where outside labels are challenged even more directly.
